… DIRK WACHSMUTH

I was born into the socialist sytem of Eastern Germany in the early eighties. While I was growing up, the Iron Curtain became less important and Thuringia became a free province. My childhood was influenced by a mixture of "old world values" and the new upcoming "American-dream-world".

In that time I have begun to draw. At first I, draw what I was seeing in my environment, similar to ,by far, every else visual artist in his first steps. Later I used my early gained achievements in drawing and painting to entertain my fellow students by caricaturing their teachers and classmates.

So I have found my great passion in an autodidactic way, which has kept me busy for a long period of time. In my youth I have been affected by the consume of science fiction- and horrorbooks and movies, all kinds of music akin to the Doors, Marilyn Manson, Nirvana and Joy Division and not to forget by the artworks of Salvador Dalí, H.R. Giger and Hieronymus Bosch. I am currently studying "Visual Communication" at the Bauhaus University and I am also still in the long-term process of self-discovery, which maintains my motivation to improve my skills and my knowledge in any kind of visualization.Do not hesitate to have a look!
